About TARSEC

The Texas Aerospace Research and Space Economy Consortium (TARSEC) is a key initiative established to position Texas as a global leader in the space industry. Formed in 2023 under the Texas Space Commission by Governor Greg Abbott, TARSEC unites academic institutions, government agencies, and industry leaders to accelerate aerospace innovation, foster economic growth, and solidify Texas as a hub for space research and development.

Our Mission

TARSEC will independently identify research opportunities within this state that strengthen Texas’ proven leadership in civil, commercial, and military aerospace activity; enhance this state’s position in aeronautics research and development, astronautics, space commercialization, and space flight infrastructure; and boost the integration of space, aeronautics, astronautics, and aviation industries into the Texas economy. TARSEC is governed by an executive committee and the consortium is composed of representatives of each higher education institution in the state.

Strengthen Leadership

Boost Space Industries

…boost the integration of space, aeronautics, astronautics, and aviation industries into the Texas economy.

Governor Abbott, in conjunction with Lieutenant Governor Patrick and Speaker Phelan, appointed six members to the TARSEC Executive Committee. The Governor has appointed Stephanie Murphy and Matt Ondler for terms set to expire at the pleasure of the Governor. The Lieutenant Governor has appointed Bill Weber and Jack Fischer, and the Speaker appointed Brian Freedman and Shey Sabripour for terms set to expire at the pleasure of the appointing officer. Additionally, the chancellors of Texas A&M University and The University of Texas systems and the president of Rice University named Dr. Robert Ambrose, Dr. Daniel T. Jaffe, and Dr. David Alexander to serve on the TARSEC Executive Committee. 

Together, we are shaping the future of aerospace in Texas, fostering collaboration between government, academia, and industry to achieve groundbreaking advancements.
